Today has been a life stopping experience.
Starting yesterday, my life has only gone downhill. I never thought I'd be so traumatized, I've never been.
To put it simply, my cousin's house burned down. I'm not even going to sugarcoat it, it freaking burned down and her two year old brother and mom almost died. She's lost everything in a few hours, everything gone in the blink of an eye.
Though she did have one thing.
Her iPod.
So she did what she thought was right; spreading the word.
For about a few hours, she kept her seventy three hundred followers updated, as she went through the most horrifying thing she had ever experienced as a thirteen year old.
The reaction was stunning.
Starting minutes before she had first posted, the tag
#prayforferyal starting going around.
People, her followers, were spreading the word about this young teen. She and her family salvaged what they could, and even I couldn't hold back tears when i was informed.
At about 9PM last night, the tag
#prayforferyal had become so popular, and posted so many times worldwide, it trended on twitter's most tagged topics. For about an hour, Feryal was known globally. She noticed this, and began receiving tens of hundreds of tweets, all expressing their sorrow and comfort. Among those was mine, offering her a place to stay until the damage was cleared.
Today, I was on Twitter all day to speak with my cousin. I myself read through her tweets and actually did cry. I was over at her apartment on Sunday, everything was fine. I called her on Monday, everything was fine. Tweeted her Tuesday morning, everything was fine.
PLEASE. IF YOU HAVE A TWITTER, PLEASE FOLLOW @lanadeIpayne. PLEASE. MY COUSIN IS GOING THROUGH TOUGH TIMES.
